"I mean that they remain in the upper world: but this must not be allowed; they must be made to descend again among the prisoners in the den, and partake of their labors and honors, whether they are worth having or not."-Socrates, The Repbulic

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
It's time for my big Thanksgiving post! And before you say it, I realize that by the time you read this Thanksgiving will be a whole 362 days away. I apologize. But that doesn't mean we still can't keep the spirit of Thanksgiving alive by remembering the humble beginnings of this joyous holiday. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Humble beginnins?! What in the hell is you talkin' bout?! I thought this wuz just another excuse for us to stuff our fat faces!" So you need an excuse? Seriously, you wonder why we're the fattest country on the face of the earth. And one of the biggest problems facing our global community is world hunger, but I digress. No, believe it or not my red necked brethren; there is an actual purpose behind our annual gorge fest. You see a long time ago, our ancestors, the Pilgrims, fled Europe to start new lives in a new world because of religious oppression. After undergoing many hardships and a deadly winter, the Pilgrims made a peace with the natives and prepared a feast to celebrate their new life. And now, every year, millions of Americans gorge themselves while sitting in houses built on land stolen from Native Americans and attend services in religious institutions that denounce opinions that differ even slightly from their own. The kindred spirit of the season has been thrown out the window to make room for the all too common American gluttony. Just remember a few days ago, when you sat down with your family and said what you were thankful for, did you stop to think of all the people that don't have as many things to be thankful for as you? If the answer is no, do you think that's right?
